Brest is the city in Belarus, is located in the western part of the country, located at the border with Poland opposite the Polish city of Terespol, where the Bug and Mukhavets rivers meet, 350 km away from Minsk. Brest is a city with population of 350,616 in 2019 and is the capital city of the Brest Region.
The city of Brest is a historic site of many cultures. It was the location of important historical events such as the Union of Brest and Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. The Brest Fortress was recognized by the Soviet Union as the Hero Fortress in honor of the defense of Brest Fortress in June 1941.
During medieval times, the city was part of the Kingdom of Poland from 1020 until 1319 when it was taken by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It became part of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1569. As a result of the Partitions of Poland, it was incorporated into the Russian Empire in 1795. After World War I, the city was conquered by the Second Polish Republic. During the Invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in 1939, the city was first captured by the Wehrmacht and soon passed on to the USSR in accordance with the German–Soviet Frontier Treaty. In 1941, it was retaken by the Germans during Operation Barbarossa. The city was part of the Belarusian SSR until the breakup of the USSR in 1991. Brest is now a part of the independent Belarus.

Visa-Free travel in Belarus
According to the Presidential Decree, effective from July 27, 2018, foreign citizens of 77 countries can enter Belarus for up to 30 days and exit from the territory of Belarus only through the State border checkpoint of the Republic of Belarus “Minsk National Airport”.
To enter the Republic of Belarus in the visa-free regime, foreign citizens should have the following documents:
- a valid ordinary passport (at least 90 days beyond intended date of departure from the Republic of Belarus);
- financial means;
- medical insurance policy with coverage for at least 10 000 euros, valid in Belarus during the whole duration of stay.

Fifteen-day visa-free access to Grodno-Brest tourist zone
Citizens of a number of countries can visit the Brest tourist zone visa-free for 15 days. Foreign visitors can enter this zone through Brest regional airport and crossing points on the land border (with Lithuania and Poland). This tourism and recreation zone includes popular attractions and biggest cities in the western part of the country, including: the city of Brest, Brest District, Zhabinka District, Kamenets District and Pruzhany District;
In line with the president’s decree, the 15-day visa-free option is available to citizens of more than 70 countries, including Latvia’s non-citizens and Estonia’s stateless persons.
The rules of entry as part of the 15-day visa-free program are different from the 30-day visa-free option available to travelers arriving in Minsk by air.
To be able to visit the visa-free zone, a foreign national must present the following documents:
- Valid passport or an equivalent identity document;
- Travel medical insurance with the minimum coverage of €10,000. The travel insurance must be valid in Belarus;
- Migration card (issued upon arrival);
- Document allowing foreign nationals (individuals or groups of tourists) to visit the Tourism and Recreation Zone Brest-Grodno. It can be obtained while purchasing a tour from a certified tour operator that has the right to organize visa-free travels to Belarus. This means that a tourist needs to approach an official travel agency beforehand (not later than 48 hours before the trip), make a travel plan, pay for the chosen services (be it an individual plan or an all-inclusive tour), and pick up the document that will be subsequently presented at a checkpoint.
Stadium - Regional Sport Complex Brestsky
Regional Sport Complex Brestsky, also known simply as OSK Brestsky or ASK Brestski is a multi-use stadium in Brest, Belarus. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FC Dinamo Brest. The stadium holds 10,169 people.
The complex was built in 1937 and given the name Spartak Stadium in 1939. In 1972, it was renamed to Dinamo Stadium and reassigned to Dinamo sport society along with local football team. Stadium’s major reconstruction and renovation started in 1996. After partial completion in 1999, it was rebranded as Regional Sport Complex Brestsky.
